Ara...thanks so much for your generous offer. I did receive the Carson unit and it works well for the price but isn't quite as good as a 'BB'. If you're offer still stands our Chapter would love to have the 'BB' but if you think you might have a use for it in the near future than of course you'd better hang onto to it. Let me know. You can contact me directly off the TDB at microvette63@aol.com

    Thanks again!

Six o'clock news. Looked at a borescope that has a wireless video screen and will connect, via bluetooth, to your smart phone.

I ended up with two different versions (by mistake) Here is what I bought to keep, and here is what I bought by accident. Gotta learn to check out the cart before I click "purchase"

I will use this more in my appraisal business than I will in judging. It will make life a lot easier when I am trying to find a model/serial number of the back of a piece of machinery

Nice, but I wish it was smaller. 6mm would be OK, but 4 or 5 mm better.
You know, small enough to use in things that go Bang.

Until the last line I thought you were looking for something to use in your medical addiction.

Nah. We've already got a broken sigmoidoscope around here. Too large of diameter to look in spark plug holes or barrels, so not much interest from me.

FYI - David Houlihan of the Midway USA Chapter at the LoneStar Regional last weekend had a creative and inexpensive broach buster.

Dave took a pair of the Walmart 3 for $7 reading cheater specs, cut them in half at the nose piece and attached a piece of flexible plastic water supply hose (wall-to-sink faucet) to the ear piece. Dave was kind enough to present me with one of his innovations. Used it to read generator tag commas. Didn't try it on an engine stamp pad, but it should work and at a lot better price performance.

The borescope market is changing rapidly! For example the Extech has an extensive line of options including camera heads of 4 & 5.5mm. Then you can look at the ones by Triplett or Ultravision.
Of interest are those which use a computer via the USB, these can be had for under $100.
Then if you look at Snap On theirs can wonder down the value guide while adjusting light and focus, but for $700 plus -

As these prices come down judging may become more interesting.

They have a 4.5 mm probe as an option.

Nick, get the Broach Buster; it cost $100 and if it is for Chapter use it will be worth the money as you share it as need...

I just received my Carson near focus monocular mentioned above. For the money ($15 w/ shipping) it seems like a great deal. I also use a digital picture. Don H.
