Loren, was this a refund check for your Corvette Market subscription? If so, while I am sorry to lose you, I am glad you were taken care of so promptly. As I have mentioned before, we offer a 100% money-back guarantee if American Car Collector isn't right for any subscriber. KM

Re: Another magazine bites the dust

I was one of the early subscribers to sign up a few years ago when the magazine was first being introduced up at Bloomington Gold before the first issue was ready and stayed on board for a couple of years until I realized there was very little there for the little guy. IMO, most of what was presented were reports on how the high dollar "blue chip" cars fared in recent auctions for the well heeled speculator. I'm a little guy so I am back to doing it the way I used to and figuring the market out on my own. I realize the publication must be profitable and I do wish Keith Martin well with it.

          Regards,
          Greg

Thanks for your comments, Greg. I would agree that for the C4 - C6 Corvettes, it's pretty easy to figure out what is going on just by looking at Craigs List and eBay (for instance). We include C4, C5 and C6 sales because they are a part of the market.

But where our analysts can significantly help shed light on the market is on the earlier cars, and especially with the more-rare variants. That's why you see stories about million-dollar L88s, etc.

Thanks for the reply Keith. I would sure like a C2 but it's not going to happen any time soon in this current economy which is only getting worse. My guess is there are far more dedicated little guys who have real passion for this hobby than the well heeled investment speculators you usually write for. No offense intended.

No offense taken, Greg. And I am sure you are right. Let's just hope the economy improves and you get your C2!

I'm going to stick with the new magazine for now and hopefully for the future. As the Zen Master said, "We'll see..."

At any rate, good luck with your new consolidated pub.

I'll certainly check out the "new magazine" and make a determination from there of whether or not I continue on as a subscriber. Good Luck Keith!
