67 427 replacment oil pain
I am needing a new oil pan for the 427 as the old one was beat up real bad. I found one that came off of a newer BB GM crate engine. it looks identical expect for the corners of the rails as there is no reinforcements. can I take the old ones of the old pan and re-spot weld them back on and be good to go.

The replacement GM #14091356 pan does not have the corner reinforcements. I would not attempt to remove the corner reinforcements from the existing pan, though. Way too much work and frustration to get these off and get them usable. You can purchase perfect reproductions for a nominal cost. No need to spot weld them. The bolts will hold them on just fine and no one will ever know they're not spot-welded on. The spot welded-on reinforcements are a PRODUCTION convenience.In Appreciation of John Hinckley -

Some of the later pans have an eight digit part number stamped on the bottom. If yours does, just remove the paint, take a little JB Weld or equivilent, and make the number go away. Only your hairdresser will know.

No numbers on the bottom so this pan will pass as original if we add the reinforcements on the rail and add the correct drain plugComment

Keith, detailed picture will help. Oil tube formation is identical, the flange lip.
