    The Wilmington Mile

The Maxton Mile speed trials will be held at the Wilmington Air Park in Wilmington, Ohio starting at the end of April 2012.
The 9000 foot runway that is going to be used is as smooth as a babys bottom according to the organizers.
Google "East Coast Timing Association" for details provided by the organizers.

The last race at the Maxton Mile is this weekend. Frequent poster here, Mike McCagh, KC Strawmyer, and David Gray will be their with their Bonneville 197 mph '56.

I made plans to go to the Regional at Frisco this weekend, or I would be there cheering them on by hoisting a "beast" or two as they run.

        Re: The Wilmington Mile

We just returned from Maxton NC. Since it was the last LandSpeed event to be run at that venue, there were a large amount of participants. Our 56 ran 173 MPH yesterday in the Maxton Standing Mile. Since we had not run there before we did not know that there were 2 doglegs in the course. One was in the one mile race course and the second was on the .9 mile shutdown area. Very exciting with a high degree of (pucker factor)
We are looking forward to running next year at the new Wilmington Ohio location. Running of the hard surface courses is quite different than running on the Bonneville Salt Flats.
Hopefully we can have some of our members join us next year to experience a different kind of Motorsport.

Dave, any plans to come to Texas for the Big Bend event?

Steven, If you are referring to the 'Texas Mile" we have no plans at this time to run there. The shutdown area is .5 mile which is fairly short. We would have to add a second parachute to prevent running off the end of the course.
I have added several other photos from Maxton last weekend.
