I presume it is this one. First thing I would do is ask the seller for hi res pics of a cleaned stamp pad. A purported original triple black 435 side pipe car should be dealt with healthy skepticism.

I know the car has a NOM and some othe things wrong on the motor but the trim tag and tank sheet look right.

Generally, if you want our opinion the polite thing to do is at least give the auction number, but preferably the link to the auction itself. We don't mind giving free advice but to have to work at it to give it is another thing.

The fuel line going to the pump appears to be for a smallblock.

And it has a steering stabilizer (not used on BB's), pass. car dipstick & tube, center carb is for a 400, has a '64-'65 small-countershaft Muncie, heads are too late, no block casting date, no pad photo, etc. Not confidence-inspiring.

Most definitely Rich. When he said he lowered the reserve that was my clue to say "Run Forrest, run!" Triple black 435 should easily be worth 1 1/2 times his new reserve.

I would bet that a real black 435 convertible with its original motor, trim tag, docs, etc is a 300K car even in todays market.

Steve, I don't think the owner (who appears to be ProTeam given the warehouses in the pictures) is saying its an original engine car. The serial number 10118 is early February production while he is also noting the block casting as being from April.

The questions for this car are:
                      1. Was the car born as a black/black 435?
                      2. Is there value to a car being an original 435 that no longer has its original engine?
                      3. Even recognizing it as a NOM car, would it be worth about $90K as presented?

Dick got it right - run Forrest run.

You have got to be kidding that just because its a TM car its better that the other 67 435 car just posted here or worth more.

You might want to pay $10 and get a months' subscription to newspapersarchives and then look back at what the papers had to say about how these cars came about back then After that, decide where you want to shop for a car.

Actually Dick, that movie that your quoted phrase comes from had a couple other good phrases that could apply in this case

I not saying this in an accusing manner, but I am suspicious of any seller listing a fairly rare vintage Corvette, .........and having prrevious feedback involving a transaction for C2 Corvette trim tag rivets.
Good carburetion is fuelish hot air . . .
