Metal Protection-Gibbs Brand Penetrant

Has anyone ever used Gibbs Brand Penetrant? Per Roadsters.com it works better than anything else protecting bare metal from oxidation as it is a deeper penetrant and does not leave a sticky residue as WD-40, etc. It is reported as used on restored sprint car parts (alot of Mg). Gibbs Brand was recommended above paint because if air gets between the paint and metal oxidation can occur without seeing it. I am considering using it on magnesium wheels.

I have been using Gibbs for almost 10 years and have bought it in bulk, with intent to become a distributor, but that never materialized. It is one of the best products of its kind I have ever used. Is perfect for rust prevention and certain kinds of lubrication. I use it instead of WD40, and it it far superior to that product in every way. Great for automotive uses and firearms among many other applications.

Boeshield T-9 is also a superb product particularly for corrosion protection. It was developed by the Boeing Company for use on military and commercial aircraft specifically to prevent corrosion. When applied properly, it does leave a waxy film, so might not be the best solution for your magnesium wheels. Not cheap, but great.

Why do I know this? I lived in Rhode Island for six years. Little known fact: The only state in the United States that has more annual precipitation is Hawaii. Generally precipitates every three days on the average. Summer is rain. Winter is snow and sleet. Ocean salt air. Very high humidity most of the time. The rest of the time road salt is everywhere.
