    68 Windshield Delaminating

I have gone back and read some interesting threads. I have a beautiful original windshield that has delaminated in the upper left corner (driver side). With today's latest technology has anyone tried injecting resin into one like they do with chips ect. Thank you, Jeff

My local Chevelle club had a glass company owner come to one of our tech sessions (along with a paintless dent removal person). Both demonstrated their products.

The glass guy filled a windshield chip with resin while we watched. I asked him about injecting the resin in the circumstances you mention. He was not very positive about it, but he also sells windshields and I am not sure he appreciates our desire to preserve originality. Of course he may have had other more pecuniary motives as well.

I expect one issue might be containing the resin if the delimitation extends very far vertically. Gravity sucks.

Yup, my original 68 windshield is doing that, too. Proves it's original, I guess

My original is out right now and has delamination about 1/4" in from some edges.

What is the cause if this delamination? Is it the gummy stuff between the glass deteriorating because of exposure to air and water?

I was just going to put it back in once I fix up the frame. But putting resin in is probably an option while it is out. But what value would that be?
