1961 Vette Fuel Injection Air Duct Screen

Could you help me with two questions on my 1961 Vette Fuel Injected Car:

    1) Does the FI Air Duct Inlet have the circular screen in place at the inlet of the duct next to the radiator? This is the approximate 4" screen that also appear in the heater air duct inlet.

    2) Does the 1961 Vette use the protective cones on the rear tail lights inside the trunk?

    Many thanks.

    Charles,
There is no screen on the air inlet duct on 315 HP cars. Low HP FI cars have the screen.
61's don't use the grey tail light cones. Only 62's have them.

Charles & Dave, Whne you say air inlet duct do you mean the hole in the radiator core support? If so I defiinitely agree that there is no screen in that hole.
But if the 61 (59 to 61) was a low HP then there would be a sheet metal block off plate held on with screws. John

Yes, I do mean the hole in the radiator core support. Thanks for the answer.

Does the hole in the radiator support for the heater air inlet (on the passenger side) have the screen attached to it?

Do you know why GM did not put the screen on the FI air inlet?

          Charles -

Probably because there's a filter element in the air cleaner that would stop anything from being ingested into the engine.
