    Removing Pointers on gauges.

If I remove the pointers from the gauges how will I know where to put pointers so they will read correctly?
Thanks for your input and ideas.

Note the position of the pointer on the gauge before removing and reinstall at the same point.

I would think that there would be some tension on the pointer resting on it's peg that when removed would allow the shaft to rotate in which case this wouldn't work.

the only gauge that will work with, reliably, is the batt gauge.

When i need to get one of my pointers off of a gauge i just use a firm but authoritative voice and say " NO, Bad dog " usually works, but seriously, back in the days when you couldn't get the right temp sender, we would set up a complete working gauge and sender on the bench with a pan of hot water and a candy thermometer and put the needle back on at the correct corresponding position, that method had its drawbacks but worked somewhat well, you could do the same with the fuel gauge, the oil and amp just get set to 0, be careful not to touch any wires where they don't belong or it gets expensive.

                  Doug,

I knew there was someone out there that had gone down this road before.
From the looks of your dogs are you a bird hunter?
                  Thanks,
                  Keith Majure

                    Keith,

Yes, i chase birds every chance i get, spent a couple of weeks in Montana recently, waiting for the snakes to go to bed so we can run after the quail here in Arizona, hope your gauges worked out ok.

                      Doug,

Where did you go in Montana? I have been to Froyd to hunt chukas several times over the years. Will be going to Kansas the week of Thanksgiving to pheasant hunt. I Use to do my quail hunting in Texas but it looks as if that is history for the time being.
You must be in pretty good shape to hunt behind those Pointers. If I hunted behind them I would be dead. I have to hunt behind short legged Brittany's.

I worked on 63 seats this evening. It loooks as if I have put the cluster project off for a while.

Drop me an email at kmajure@bellsouth.net and keep me posted on the bird hunting activities.

                      Thanks,
                      Keith Majure
