    Conv. top warning tag

Just had my new top installed. Looks great. So what's the best way to keep the warning tag in good shape for judging and not let it get bent over and wind blown?

    Thanks,

A lot of people wrap it in "Saran Wrap". Or put a small plastic Name Tag holder over it.

I just saw a neat little plastic or lucite tag protector at the Sacramento Regional that Paragon sells under part no. 15161 for mid years. Don't know if it fits a C3 top, but you can call them and ask. good luck

Gary: I've heard the Saran Wrap route, but didn't know how it kept it from bending over. The name tag holder is interesting.

Don: I looked up that part. Cool! How does it attach to the top? It looks like it might hold the tag against the top too.

You could put a peice of plastic or metal behind the tag. You would remove it for judging anyways.

Yes, just like in the photo in the catalog, it holds the tag firmly against the top. Somehow it snaps onto the edging of the top. I will know for sure when I receive the part for my top when I next order from Paragon.

No Don , tell me it is not true, you are going to buy a tag holder for the tag on your top, of a car that is made to be driven, that won't be driven because the tag on the top of the soft top, will look like a tag from a soft top that has been driven

              Am I right?

Who's on first, and I don't know is on second. And yes, my car is a driver, and my tag looks like what your old interior looked like, i.e. well used, and starting to shred. I want to try to maintain what's left of it, so I will see if the plastic protector will prolong its life. Yes, we judging guys are a tough bunch, all anal about the little details.....

                    Re: Conv. top warning tag

The lucite tag protector cover slips under the lower edge of the top and holds the tag flat against the top. It prevents windblowing. When installing the instructions tell you to use a heat gun to heat the lower bent edge of the protector and the top to allow it to slip on for a nice fit. If you try to push it on without heating, it will break! I found out the hard way. I believe that the protectors are made by Paul Mazut and can be purchased from him directly or from Corvette Central.

Yes Yes Yes Yes , but I have to admire the unbelievable lenghts that people go through to not drive their cars.

As I once said....... and I have said a lot of things ......

                      Some members are Modelers

                      Some members are Drivers

Some are both Drivers and Modelers

I just believe that the more often these cars are seen or the road, the more their value will be.

You can't hunger for a sports car that you have never seen on the road or passing you fast and looking good.

50 year old or younger men and women (have money to buy) want to buy a car they can drive.

That is why restomods are selling for more than some original cars.

Our generation, who grew up seeing these cars or driving them , will not be on the road after a decade or two.

So enjoy what ever part of the " Corvette World " that you chose to participate in.

                      You own a great car..........

Oh by the way,,,,,,,where do you get those tags?

                      Jack

PS off for a ride right now, nice fall day, top down

                        Tory,

Here is a picture of my lable protector. I went to Office Depot and bought a card protector for about $.50 with a little blue painters tape behind it. I cut the holder to size. Works great!
