Are the rivets used to attach this bracket the standard pop rivet type or are they a special type of rivet? Tx

Re: 67 Front Inner Splash Shield Bracket
If I understand correctly, you are referring to GM 3828548 Rivet, UPC 1Boltweld-B2, Item 3. It should be a flat head aluminum rivet with about a 1/2" diameter head. One of my GM books says this rivet is 3/16 x 5/8, Doc Rebuild has a photo of the GM blueprint that says it's 3/16 x 7/16.
For a comparison, you could check your front grille bracket rivets (UPC 11-13-B1, Item 6) or the hood support bracket through the inner fender (UPC 11-13-B6, item 14). It's used lots of other places too, but the two I mentioned might be a couple of the easier locations to check.- Top

Re: 67 Front Inner Splash Shield Bracket
I remembered reading something about the grille brackets (UPC 11-13-B1, Item 8, x4) that is different from the AIM. The Assembly Manual shows the grille bracket rivets (Item 6) going in from the FRONT, but I read in the archives that they should be installed from the BACK.
My car had some front end damage long ago, but the rivets to the grille brackets on the undamaged side are the approx. 1/2" diameter flat head rivets referenced in the earlier post, and were installed from the back side, from inside the wheel well.
Hopefully someone else will be able to verify. If this is correct, the depiction in the AIM must cause a lot of trouble on the judging field.- Top

That's correct - the rivet direction in the Assembly Manual illustration is backwards, and is shown that way for all five years.- Top
