    Cove mounting Washers

The 59 Assembly Manual sect 11 sheet 4.00 shows the side cove molding marked with an X in 5 places. There is a 3723267 washer used in these locations. It looks like some type of fender washer.
What is the OD of this washer?

    Thanks in advance

    Roger:

I have just today written to Paragon about their kits numbered with 954K. I would like them to add these "Xtra" washers in their kits. I am using the smallest fender washer I could find at my local hardware store. They are 3/4 inches O.D., but I suspect 3723267 might be somewhere between 1/2 and 3/4 inches. (Warning: I have no originals to back up my last statement.)

Note: If you happen to have reproduction front fiberglass, only some of the "X" locations will take this extra washer, due to interference with the wheel wells' inner lip.

I bought all the stainless trim and fasteners for my '59 in 1980 from the Chevy dealer and stuck it all on a shelf. It's all still on the shelf. I have a bag of rubber washers in the pile. I'm wondering if that 3723267 might be rubber? It looks like it might be rubber from the drawing in the AIM.

I was hoping that somebody would look at a known original car and give us an answer.

These are Rubber washers, not quite 3/4" , they were used to weather proof the penatrations for mounting studs from trim in fenders & doors. 56 -60 used them. Rubber washers were followed by the flat washer over it , then nut, hope that helps............

That makes sense. I did not think that the large washers would be rubber. I met an owner of a 60 at Harbor Frieght today and I asked him if he knew anything about these washers. He said that they were metal and about 3/4 inch diameter.

              Adam:

Thanks for the reminder. I knew those were seals (decades ago), but had forgotten.
