    1965 327/300hp

Having trouble keeping it running. Have set the timing and points which seem to be right. I think it is starving for gas. Today i removed the
fuel filter and ther was no preasure at the fitting and did not leak gas.
Iam thinking that i might have a bad fuel pump what do you think
    HELP

    William,
No pressure at the carb is certainly a problem. Correct this and see how she runs, there may be other things you need to address also. Got gas in the tank? Back to the garage. Bill

Take loose the hose from the body line to the pump, gas should flow via gravity. That assumes this point in the front end is lower than the tank. I had a clogged body fuel line in mine when I bought it. If fuel flows there but not before the filter when turning over, obviously it is the pump. Good luck, Don H. (PS I hope you don't have AC, that makes the pump MUCH tougher.)

        BILL AND DONALD
Thanks for the reply. I have a new line but dosnt mean it is not
clogged up. When i start it i have to pump the gas pedal too keep it
running. Yes it has A/C. I thought there should lbe preasure in the line
from the fuel pump to the fuel filter but was none and no gas in the
        line.
        Thanks
        Bill

          William,

There is also the possibility the filter sock inside the fuel tank that's attached to the sender is clogged restricting the flow of fuel to the pump.

Sounds like a fuel pump problem.

Check your oil and see if you smell gas on the dip stick or if you show overfull.

If it is the fuel pump be sure and change the oil and filter SOON.

Sometimes (not uncommon) when the fuel pump goes out the fuel will flow into the oil pan and mix with the oil.

The diluted oil mix will wash out the bearings

            Good Luck,
            Carl
