Hi all. There are a lot of good chrome shops around the country, so It would depend to some degre, how close the shop is to you. That way if you have any discussions after the plating it's face to face with the fellas at the chrome shop, versus phone calls and shipping charges. Here in BC Canada I chose Kelowna Plating. My bumpers, especially the back ones suffered bends from someone trying to jack the car, go figure, and some heavy gouges. They did show chrome and the bumpers were flawless. Three years ago this cost me 250 a corner.

Dan's Chrome in Adamsville, TN does both flash and show chrome.

I bought a GM front licsense plate holder with bumperettes for my 59 backin the 70's. The chrome started to rust after a few months in the summer.

I've used Librandis in Harrisburg Pa several times. Probably too good for "original" look but nice work every time.

Stay away from Scherm's in Sacramento. Poor quality. They finally got it close on the third try, and wanted more money to do it right. We are talking visible sanding scratches

I used Tri-City Plating in Elizabethton TN a couple of years ago for my front corners. Great work and great chrome. Yeah, they are better than what GM made but just about anything we do to a restoration is way over done as compared to what the factory did. Enjoy the shine.....

Used Tri City for over 25 years. Very acceptable chrome if you are not wanting show triple chrome plating. There work is very close to what the chrome looked like originally. Always clean the back side of your bumper as they do nothing to that area. Chromed rust does not look very appealing.

Another company in TN that does very good plating is Advanced in Nashville. Their pot metal work is excellent. There chrome is pretty much show chrome, very deep and shiny as most people want it that way. For you older pharts that are doing antique automobiles, they do nickle plating. Remember chrome is a relative new comer to the automotive world. Somewhere in the '20's is when nickel was replaced with chrome

DC Bumpers 720 W. Reno 405-232-1573. Ask for Ron Foster, at that time 3 years ago was still running the business. They are sent to their facility in Dallas, stripped and plated. Have used them exclusively for many years. Provided Ron is still there, let him know your expectation. I wanted good BUT not to good. As stated when bumpers were returned still had some of the factory wave and nice chrome. The car stays inside (obviously) with chrome still showing good 3 years later. Should there be a need, might want to clean up backside of bumpers before delivery to DC. Be prepared to pay $1250 +/-, that's best guess however. You can mention my name, Michael Gill......hopefully it won't cost you extra...lol. . Need anything else email me and I'll shoot you my tele.

I had Scherm's do all of my brite work, and polishing. I was very satisfied. My experience was great, I'd recommend them to others, just my opinion.

I am glad you had a good experience. I have only dealt with them twice. The second time knowing they screwed up the first batch.
I just had to learn the hard way by giving them a second chance. I am still not happy with it. Some of it I had re-done by someone else.
This is when the car craze was going crazy, but that is no excuse. Once again, I am glad you had a good experience.

There are so many good/excellent shops find one thats local.
