Just for the next guy...
Replacing a broken stud on 70-72 Fender Louvers / Grilles
Use McMaster-Carr PN 90575A350, which is a Type 316 Stainless Steel Fully Threaded Stud 10-24 Thread, 1" Length
Drill with the drill bit as marked on your 10-24 tap to a depth of ~.350 inches
Oil and tap the hole with 10-24 threads to ~.350 inches. Periodically remove the chips by backing out. Follow with a bottoming 10-24 tap if you have one.
Using two extra 10-24 nuts from the hardware store, jam them by tightening them against each other at one end of the stud. Align the flats. Use a socket to install the stud/nut assembly with Loctite Red 271. Remove the nuts.
Corvette Central makes a grille fastener kit...
FRONT FENDER LOUVER MOUNT KIT / SCREW AND NUT under PN 343038
**Assumes the damage is fairly minor where the stud pulled out of the grill. Otherwise may need to fill area with weld.
Thanks for all the help you guys have been giving me.
