    1960 Hood Release

I researched these topic in the Archives, but did not find a consensus of answers.

Is there something that can be done to the hood release cable system that will make the handle return to it original place without pushing it back?

Is lubrication required at all hood female parts and lubrication of all bowden cables necessary?

My handle twists from side to side and I believe there should be no movement.

What can I do to make the handle not twist from side to side?

    Joe,

I'd be interested in the answers also as my hood release doesn't function the way I think it should. I was going to pull it apart today and try to lube the cables, but I ended up tinkering on a few other things.

The problem with mine is it seems to be very stiff to pull and the left side of the hood does not stay latched when driving. I have lubricated the pivot points in the latching mechanism, but the problem seems to be with the bowden cables.

Look in the Restorer and find Tom Howe's article on the how to fix the release. I think it was in one of the ones last year, but can't say for sure. I did it and my car passed PV. The article is also in Bob Baird's book.
