So is there a hand-written 195 on the passenger side underbody?

Its either there or its not. I don't believe cleaning will reveal its secret.

AWESOME photos!!! Are those mufflers 'survivor'?, it would be interesting to see the blackout treatment done to them! (There was a lengthy thread regarding blackout of mufflers not too long ago, but I didn't see any '73 observations) Regarding your frame #'s photo, was the date legible? If so how long did the frame date predate cars build date? Nice looking car. '73's are pretty sharp!

the right muffler was replaced back in 1982. the left is still the original one. when i get some more time i will gently clean it off and post some pics if it shows any blackout paint. as for the date on the frame stencil, after a quick look, the rubber weather stripping on that panel has rubbed most of it away. i will try to get a shot of it over the next week if i can get any to show better. the ending of "-73" shows well, but not too sure of the preceding numbers.

Please be careful with your cleaning. This car sounds like it might be a Bowtie candidate. Please don't negate that before the judges have a chance to look at it.
