    1971 Shift Pattern Plate

What do you guys think...has my shift pattern plate been properly or improperly refinished at some point? What do you think of this repro shift pattern plate?

Jerod, I do see that the numbers on the shift pattern are not as crisp and clear as the original. I personally would not like it.

My mid-production 71 was smoother - more like a semi-gloss. Yours looks rougher

James, yes I think it's a *little* textured compared to the original paint. I was primarily concerned about the thickness of the lines and how far the "chrome" extends away from the center of the raised areas.

I'm sending the repro back. If anyone knows of an accurate repro, let me know.

Have you considered re-finishing yours? I did mine several years ago and it came out nice. Unless the chrome is pitted badly I'm sure it's somethng that can be done.

You have the best repro out there. I do not think that you would have problems when it was judged.

There are NOS examples available on fleebay for a reasonable price.

There is a clear difference when comparing repro to orginal. Same is true for engine data plate. The differences leap out when looked at side by side.

I have no experience with how the repos will judge.

I tried both and ended up with originals.
