    64 Crossmember Bushing Replacement

I am re-doing the suspension on my 64 Coupe. In trying to restore original ride height is replacing the crossmember bushings necessary on a 70,000 mile car? WIll it make a difference in the total scheme of things? I am planning on replacing springs, shocks and other associated hardware.

    Thanks,
    Jace

    Jace,

IF the crossmember bushings have not been subjected to grease, dry rot etc. etc. I would not replace them. If the bushings loose height they will hit the frame and would noticibly need replacing.

Also, I would not recommend replacing the rear spring but changing the liners will usually restore the ride height. The spring rubber bushings (4) will need replacing. Ride height will not be effected by the shocks but ride comfort will be effected.
