1963 & 1964-1967 bumper brace thicknesses

It is my understanding that original 1963 bumper braces are about 1/4" thick and original 1964-1967 bumper braces are about 3/16" thick. Can someone confirm this? The 1963 part numbers are not the same as the 1964-1967 part numbers as shown in my 1963-1967 Chevrolet parts catalogs as well as the assembly manuals.

Yes, the 63's were indeed thick. Even the repos are thick. There should be 30 or 40 people already jumped into this one!

Sometimes they think it's a trick question and wait!!!!!

I took a pic of a new one I got back in 71 and it is thick.

Dave - The 63-67 are 0.21" (From one original and one NOS) No notch on either.

I think you will find in an associated thread that the 67 had a notch, as well as the service parts of the 70's.

GM # 3932943 in Gr. 7.836A is listed as the LH rear outer brace for 68-72 Corvettes in my 1972 Corvette Parts Catalog (Sept. 1971).

What is the part number of the NOS brace? The 1963 bumper thicker braces have different part numbers then the 1964-1967 bumper braces.

Was not aware of yet another 63 only part. Went out and measured with my caliper and it was .250". Amazing the stuff you learn here. Thanks.

Dave, the pn of the NOS is 3866406 R.H. in Gr7.836, bumper center.
It is listed for 65-67 in my P&A Cat REV 12-71 Purchased sometime in early 70's.
That same Cat lists 63-64 as 3848213/4. The 64 AIM lists that part number also, so what can I say at this point. My left side brace is original, I believe.

From my notes it appears that the original braces have a manufactures logo of "HD" while the NOS does not which corresponds to my braces.

Right you all are, I looked at my bent 63 brackets and they are different.

How did I get 1968 brackets?
