    67 vinyl door panel repair

I need a repair on my original white vinyl door panel. The repair that is needed is about 1" x 1/16th". Any help as to who does vinyl repairs.

My experience is several decades old, but I believe it is still relevant.

Car dealers, especially used car dealers, have (or had) people who specialize in detailing interiors. Those people also make repairs to vinyl rips or cigarette burn marks. These folks usually work out of vans and travel from dealer to dealer. Some have a "home base" shop. By talking to nearby used car dealers I found a guy and took my door panels to his shop in an adjacent state. At the time I had a job that didn't permit him to visit my home, but he would have if my schedule permitted. Since mine were bright blue I had to supply the vinyl dye to cover his work, but a week later I went back and the repairs were undetectable. Reba even loved them.

My experience was not with my Corvette but with my 4Runner. I had a friend with a high end used car dealership and when my seat belt buckle pierced the vinyl driver door panel, i went to him an inquired how they handled this type of problem. He had a guy that came in once every week or 2 and did their interior repairs. Left the 4runner and when i went back to pick it up, I couldn't find the 1 3/4 inch tear in the panel even though I new where it was supposed to be. Long winded, but Terry's recommendation was the same solution that worked for me.

They were and are the real deal. Reba just didn't find the repairs, and now twenty years later I can't either -- and like Michael I too know where they were cracked.

Someone we both know had my Caprice interior repaired before I got the car. I can see the cigarette burn in the seat upholstery, but the damage has not spread, and Gene told me there was damage to some of the interior door panels -- I think one of the perps got violent back there -- but I can not tell where. He did the same thing I did and got an interior guy to fix it up.

I made him not do that to the Camaro. I wanted it with all the screw holes in the center console and floor for the radar and the cameras and the shotgun mount. I think the holes for the shotgun mount are so sexy.
