What are the correct Trico blade holders for a 70

I have seen examples that have the R circled after the O in Trico. I have also seen them with no R. Is this just a matter of transitional changes between one year or is one type correct for an earlier 70`s production and one is correct for latter 70`s say 74 and up.
The70-72 guide does not mention the circled R at all. Just Trico MADE IN the USA on both ends.

Steve, after you asked me that question I also got curious so I searched the archives. From what I read early C-3s from 1968 to at least 1972 had Trico and under it Made In The USA with no R in a circle. Later C-3 Trico blade holders had the R inside a circle. Hopefully someone else will answer you.

I don't recall a R on my 1970, but it has been a while. Check with Pete Lindahl. He has the answers.

I know this observation regarding the Registered Trademark R stamping or lack thereof on the TRICO 16" wiper blade holders has been mentioned on the DB. The good news is it is quite clear that it is the Registered Trademark R unlike the R on the Delco-Remy distributor caps.

Yep, some have the R and some don't, and I do not know any Production year usage correlation. I can only guess how this question came about. Some of the C3 folks must have driven their cars out in the rain and observed the logo, etc., on wiper holders. So now, it sounds like some research needs to be done to answer the question and the challenge will be to find enough cars with original TRICO wiper blade holders out there to be able to draw a valid conclusion as to the application of the holders with and without the R vs Production year or period or if it's random.

Inquiring minds want to know, so I'm sure C3 owners will be looking for the findings.

          Have fun. Pete

You guys are going to make me put a battery in the car yet.

Of course, as I pointed out in an email to the 1968-69 judging team earlier tonight, a sample size of one (or two) is not enough to tell us much of anything. The good news is we have some time before the revision of the 1970-72 TIM&JG is due to Roy.

In the 1980's I collected hundreds & hundreds of Trico and Anco wiper blades from the junk yards. I dug out a few that were from 1970 models (Chevrolet, Camaro, and Pontiac Lemans). All are stamped "TRICO" and "MADE IN USA" with some 18" in length, some 16".
I also have a NOS 9846805 18" Trico wiper (WITHOUT the encircled "R") in a GM box that was only used on the 1971 Chevrolet and discontinued in July 1972 to be replaced with GM # 9606259 (listed for the 1972 Chevrolet).

My NOS 9664092 18" Trico wiper blade in a GM box dated May 1983 does have the encircled "R".

I have many other wiper blades in my garage attic but it would take some serious time to sort them out.
