    c1 rear bumper guards

Judging Manual(exterior 15 Rear Bumper Area),shows To Use A Castle Nut On Top Of Bumper Guard Verticle Uprights. Shouldn't These Me Morsen Nuts? Castle Nuts Are Used For Cotter Pin Applications. Most Rear Bumper Bolts Use Split Nuts Which I Believe Are Called Morsen Nuts. Spelling Probably Wrong. Is This A Misprint Or Does It Really Use Castle Nuts?

    Gary -

I think they mean Marsden nuts; can't imagine using castle nuts and cotter pins on a bumper.

Thanks! Hate To Have To Disassemble This Twice For 2 Nuts. That Would Be Nuts. Suppose This Is A Misprint In The Judging Guidelines.

From an untrained eye, the two types of nuts look the same, but the castle nut does not self tighten like the marsden nut does. I just removed the bumper guards on my 1960 and put the marsden nuts in place. It was a lot of effort just to replace two nuts that were not visible anyway; but now they are correct!

Does look like a lot of work !Looks like Ineed to get started. This one just has a standard nut on both uprights.
