Corvette Owner Pins

A question has been asked of me regarding during what model years that Corvette owner pins were supplied to owners of new Corvettes. I've never paid the slightest attention to this subject so I have no idea of the answer. I do know that they were gone by the 1969 model year.

Anyone know the model years?

Joe, I believe the dates were from 59 to 67. They were a send away deal from Chevrolet. There was a card in the owners manual that the owner sent it to receive the pin and patch as well as a subscription to Corvette News. I have also read that some 57 and 58's had the card in the owner's manual for the patch too but can't confirm it also included a pin.

I think they started in 1959 but I don't believe 1967 Owner's Kits had Owners pins. I believe the pins stopped in 1966. There is a 1957 Welcome Kit and a 1958 Owners Kit that I have in my collection but I don't recall if they came withn a pin. I will check and report back. There are at least 2 versions of the pins. Hopefully Gary Chesnut will chime in as he has the details.

Wasn't there an article in the Restorer a year or so ago on these pins ?? Dave, I think you are right on the pins ending in 66. Don't recall ever seeing a 67 version. I don't have a 67 owner's manual handy to see if there is a card in there and what it says.

Here's a picture (I saved for my collecton) of the Pin, Card and Corvette Patch sent to a lucky new owner of a 1962 Corvette in May 1962.

i have 3 and i had a new 59,62,63,64,65 and 66 and i think if they were offered every years i would have had them all. JMHO

Owners Kits with Pin, Patch, Card, Blue Folder, Corvette News and Welcome Letter mailed in a white envelope started with year model 1957. Some left over 1956 purchases in the last quarter of 1956, also received an Owners Kit. I have an original letter, envelope, Card and Patch in my collection for a 1956 that was sold in the later part of 1956.

There are at least 2 different versions of Owners Pin backs. Pin cases also changed.

Do a search as there's been several threads about Owners Pins in the last couple of years.

I still have the owner's pin and patch from my 62. I also received an owner's pin and GM letter for my 1986 roadster so they were still issuing pins and letters as late as 1986.

Well, looks like I'm wrong here.

I have not looked at this letter & pin for many years now and when I got it out, its actually a letter from GM engineering thanking me for answering questions they had about the Doug Nash 4+3 tranny. SORRY

The 57 Welcome Kits (1st Corvette owners Kit) did come with a patch and a pin. The 58 owners kit is the same as the 59-62 kits except mine has an additional piece that is unique to 58 corvettes. That means all 58-62 Owners kits had a pin and patch as well as a paper owners card and a letter from Chevrolet.
