    3 Speed Tail Shaft #3787946

    Would anyone know which corvette this tailshft housing would go to? looks just like a 3 speed tailshft for a 1956-57 but different casting numbers

    First of all, the number dates from the 1961-62 period so it could not have been originally used on a 1956-57, although it could be SERVICE for an earlier application;

    Second, the number you provided, 3787946, could not be correct. GM #3787946 was some sort of a body part for early 60's Chevrolet trucks.

        Joe L,

        I have a three speed tailshaft casting date K146 with part number 3787067. Does that translate into anything Corvette?
        Thanks,

        JR

          I strongly doubt it. I much more expect that you're reading it incorrectly. Casting numbers, especially those on cast iron, are notoriously difficult to read correctly. Characters like "3", "5", "6", "9", and "0" can be EASILY confused.

            Yes, 1961-62 Corvette with 3 speed Saginaw transmission. Based on the date, I'd say this was a SERVICE part produced in 1966.
