62 Bushing that goes on jack threaded rod?

I did not notice till last week that my original 62 jack was missing the bushing that is on the threaded rod. It must have been taken off by a PO. See the arrow on the picture for what I am looking for.

Any idea where I can find one of these bushings? I have checked out all of the typical places with no luck.

    Thanks,

    Tony

I'm not very familiar with C1 jacks. However, is that a bushing or is it a thrust BEARING (ball bearing type with balls that are fully enclosed by the bearing frame)?

I can tell you that parts for jacks were never available separately from GM; jacks were SERVICED only as a complete assembly.

However, whether this is a bushing or a thrust bearing, these are pretty much standard-type parts in the world of industrial bearing supply. If you can get the specs (measurements) of the original part, you could probably get a replacement from a source like McMaster-Carr, King Bearing or Grainger. It might not be correct in every nuance of detail with respect to the original but it should be close and 100% functional.

Check out the SHIELDED THRUST BEARINGS here:

McMaster-Carr is the complete source for your plant with over 595,000 products. 98% of products ordered ship from stock and deliver same or next day.

Have to respond as Joe - "I'm not very familiar with C1 jacks. However,"
If it is same that the 63 Jack uses (measure it) then LI has these.
Just another path to look in!

        Thanks for the info folks.

Unfortunately I do not have a jack with that bearing so I am unsure of the size. The pic I showed here as a reference is one I found on line.

Hopefully someone on here can measure the bearing and possibly take some closeup pics.

        Thanks,

        Tony

On every reproduction jack I've seen that thrust bearing has a larger OD than an origional. Food for thought if you get a dimension from someone.

            Tony,

I think I can help. The Jack I have is not original to my 1962 Corvette as that one was missing when I bought the car in 1972, but the one I have was represented by the vendor as an original 1962 Corvette Jack when I purchased it at Bloomington Gold 1990 for $300. It is as I purchased it in unrestored pretty darn nice condition and passes all the NCRS visuals as being an original.

              John,

Thank you very much. This info is exactly what I am looking for. I will now start my search for a bearing. Once I get the correct bearing I will post it here for others to have as well.

              Regards,

              Tony

This is what I have found so far:

Talking to the manufacturer (RBC bearings, who now owns the NICE name), the part number is obsolete. The only thing they can offer is a 603-1/4V thrust bearing.

The 7020 is identical to the 603-1/4V except for the top washer I.D. The
                7020 I.D. is 0.515". The 603-1/4V I.D. is 0.500".

The brochure picture looks very very close to the original, and most likely when painted will not be noticed.

I am still looking to see if I can find an old stock supply, otherwise, I will order one of these and do a comparison.

I received the 603-1/4V thrust bearing and it looks identical to the original except for part number, and that slight difference in the ID mentioned above. It still fit perfect and slid down the rod..

                  Here are a few pics.

                  Cost was about $5 each.

This is the manufacturer: http://www.rbcbearings.com/ and you would need to purchase them from your local supplier.

                  Thanks,

                  Tony

Re: 62 Bushing that goes on jack threaded rod?

While at the Jan. 1992 swap meet at Cypress Gardens I saw a 1963 Corvette jack. The bearing measured about 1 1/4" O.D. and about 3/8" thick. The bearing was stamped "IRWIN BRG. CO. CINC. OHIO" and "H-2 TOP".

I also have in my notes the following:
For comparison "NICE 606" bearing used on 53-61 Corvette jacks
                    O.D. = 1 7/16", thickness = 7/16", I.D. = 5/8"

Below is what I just found on the web.
