Is this a valid GM part number?

I'm looking for exhaust manifolds for my 66. The left side is 3846559 now, which is correct put pitted.

I've found a couple of listing for a 3848559. Is this 3848559 a valid GM part number for any left side exhaust manifold? Or, is it likely a misprint in the ad?

The photo of the manifold look to have the correct alternator mount area.

    Thanks,

    Don

The valid part number is 3846559. This is a 2" outlet ram's horn-type exhaust manifold used from late 1963 through 1971. This number is both a casting number as well as a part number for the finished manifold.

I can find no record of GM #3848559 as having ever existed, at least as any part that was ever available in SERVICE. If it was ever a valid part number, it was likely a part number for an exhaust pipe extension and not a manifold.

I expect this is just a VERY common case of someone reading what is a "6" as being an "8".

Don, there are several aftermarket suppliers with the 3846559 available that will work on your Corvette. They are not exact but will bolt up, and the accessories will fit.
Check with Paragon as they supply manifolds and call them service replacements.

Thanks Joe, I thought it was likely a misread of a 6 for an 8.
