Need radio capacitor on ignition switch

Bolts to the ignition switch on top of the steering column, suppresses brake light noise (I think) for the radio. Has one wire with a male connector that plugs into the under-dash harness.

Can someone supply the UPC code and sheet number for this ignition switch capacitor? I have looked all through my 1975 and 1976 AIM books and I can't find it.

I did find a capacitor asm 3961556 that was assembled at the assembly plant next to the brake light switch (Speakers & Capacitors, UPC B01 to B12, Sheet 32). BTW, when I found this capacitor on my 75 Vert, I couldn't believe that St. Louis would use a Radio Shack type splice to connect this capacitor on a production Corvette.

I know that Saginaw did not supply the ignition switch capacitor as part of the steering column assembly. It does not show up on any steering column assembly drawing (although if it was needed on 100% of 1975 Vettes, you would think that it could have been assembled to the steering column at Saginaw.)

!963-68 Corvettes with U-69 did use a capacitor on the ignition switch. This was GM #1960960. GM says that this capacitor was also used for 1969 (although not thereafter) but I do not understand how it could have been configured to work for 1969, but it may have been.

GM #1960960 was discontinued in March, 1973 and replaced by GM #1970751. The latter was discontinued without supercession in July, 1983.

        All,

Sorry to do a hit-and-run on this. I had to get to the airport this morning to run up to WY and pick up the boss. I didn't realize that this might be perplexing.

I could not find it in my '69 AIM, probably my fault. The best source I have on this little dude is my Doc Rebuild wiring guide for dummies. It does show the identical female receptacle, wire gauge and wire color, exiting the dash harness in agreement with what I see under my own dash. As for the capacitor, here is what is stamped on the bottom of mine, which broke yesterday whilst I was rooting around it:
        801249
        DR
        5MF
This is stamped on the end opposite where the single, brown, 12 ga wire exits a red phenolic(?) insulator. The case is galvanized(?) metal, held to the top most screw that mounts the ignition switch to the column, by a round metal clamp.

The wire pulled out of the capacitor and I need a replacement.

I think you'll find that the rating on this capacitor is .5MF. At least, that's what the ignition switch capacitor is supposed to be rated at.

The 801249 could very well be a Delco-Remy part number. While I have no record of that particular part number, I believe the part number is part of a series once-upon-a-time assigned to Delco-Remy.
