'73 Egr Hose Clamps?

Was curious as to if your '73 EGR valve had spring clamps on the valve end, the carb side, both ends, or none at all? I think my 454 version had one on the valve side only, but sure someone could have tinkered with it in the past.

This is for a 73 egr set-up. There is a pinch type hose clamp on the egr side but I can't remember if the carb side has it. I don't think so. Dr R. has the clamp on the egr side. It's a real pain if you want to get the hose off.

BTW, I'm looking for the french lock that I have highlighted or at least a photo of it by itself flatened out taken birds eye view so I can have it duplicated. It looks like it is near impossible to find and original or repop.

My 73 L82 auto has the spring clamp on both ends. They are green clamps. These have never been apart.

On the EGR side,I remember it as a pinch clamp that goes on the EGR valve tube first and when you slide the hose on, it bites into the rubber with two pinchers like a lobster. Is my memory correct? And is the same one on both ends?

Steve, Not on my car. They are the "three tang" pinch clamp like on the gas line hoses.

Guys, after reading the posts I was curious on my LS4 and went out to look. This is the little vacuum hose from the top of the EGR valve to the front of the carburetor.

Wow! mine does not have any clamps? I had better do some research! The vacuum hose has a white stripe.

Steve..that French washer lock on the EGR bracket bolt. I think almost impossible to find! When I was searching for the correct LS4 EGR valve I was needing the french washer too. Couldn't find it anywhere and no repop?

Finally purchased complete correct EGR Valve and bolt and French lock. I was lucky and I think the whole thing was only about a $100 bucks a couple of years ago. I did find one correct EGR valve for my LS4 on eBAY. The seller had the starting bid at $1,200.00!! Crazy. I passed and continued to search.

I think that maybe I would try and fabricate the French washer lock.

Yes indeed a NOS correct#7047066 EGR valve for '73 454 was the very first part I started to search for in 1990! Took 16 years to find, $100 and the plating is PERFECT, I figured I'd have to pay five times that. As far as the french lock, other '73 chevrolets used the same set-up. At Fall carlisle I saw a intake that had the hardware on, offered the guy $5 just for the french lock, he looked at me strange,and said sure! As far as the one clamp that was on my egr hose, it was a '3 tang' type similiar to fuel line style. It was not like the one listed in the Dr. Rebuild catalog.

That french lock looks easy to fabricate on a CNC machine.

I'd like to get a hold of a close up photo taken directly overhead in a flat view with the dimension of the hole and the material thickness. From that I can get the rest of the dimensions and make a few.

Can someone provide me with a photo please?

Small blocks in my photo book have the (three tang) clamps. 454's have no clamps. I only have a small sample so others may be different.
