Over 80,000 spectators will attend this weekend for the 10th Anniversary of the Route 66 Mother Road Car Show. Over 1000 vintage and muscle cars will be on display and judging will be by CASI International with awards for over 40 classes, three Corvette classes. On Friday night there will be a Route 66 cruise with over 1000 classic cars participating. Also on Friday will be the Burnout Competition and the Dyno Challenge. Saturday will showcase a Poker Race and "The Neverly Brothers" along with something called the "Route 66 Music Tour" and several other bands. The Awards presentation will be on Sunday from Noon until 2pm. One entire block of downtown Springfield will be the preformance and restoration market place and the classic cars will be on display over many blocks of downtown. Springfield Illinois is about 2.5 hrs South of Chicago and about 2hrs NE of St. Louis. My wife and I will leave 1st thing on Friday morning.
