    Performance Verification Award Question

I have an 81 Vette that I believe will pass the PV process. The question is that I do have a vanity mirror with a faulty switch. Will the vanity mirror inop keeping from achieving a PV award?

    Any input is appreciated.

    John,

Any inop or different than factory original performance of any function will result in a PV failure.

You should get the PV manual and read it. As Arland suggests, a single failure of any of the items being tested constitutes a failure for the car during that PV test. You'll also find owners have ONE shot to repair a single fault with a max time limit of 15-minutes.

Bottom line, the PV test is probably the most stressful judging item in the NCRS portfolio.

Every thing has to work just like it did the day it left the factory. All it takes is one part not to work and you are done, The judge will give you one 15 min.time out to fix the 1st failure if it can be done in that time limit. If not you are done. If you have a second failure on another part you are done. PV is the hardest part of the judging process. do your home work and you will do well. Good Luck

[Every thing has to work just like it did the day it left the factory.] if you had anything to do with a dealership back in the day that statement may not apply. the dealership was the last station in the assy line

I had to help make the air intake flap on a 3000 mile 1=owner 1974 work in order for the car to pass PV. It clearly never worked from the factory -- in spite of dealer new car prep. So much for the last step of the assembly line.

I have heard it said they should perform "as engineered", not necessarily as delivered. Don H.

Thanks for all of your input. I used to be in the car bus during that era and a lot of the items did not work as delivered from the factory! Lots of warrantee work before they were delivered.
