Rebound Straps for a '57

Can anyone tell me what the correct length should be for the rebound straps on a '57.....? The old, non-original straps that I removed are ~29" in length; the new replacements from CC are ~27 1/4".....

Is there a specific length that is "correct" or is it a "range" of length that is acceptable....?
