Odd destination for delivery of my 94

Hoping someone can interpret the odd delivery and destination names on bottom of my build sheet & window sticker from NCRS for my Torch Red/Red '94 Vette.

Heres whats on bottom of build sheet
    CHARGE TO CODE: 00502
    CPC GROUP ENGINEERING CENTER
    30003 VAN DYKE ROAD A106
    WARREN MI

    SHIP TO CODE: 70847
    C-P-C GROUP C/O QUAL-EFFIC INC.
    7133 ELEVEN MILE ROAD
    WARREN MI

The window sticker shows the following on the bottom
    Dealer to whom delivered:
    CPC GROUP ENGINEERING CENTER
    30003 VAN DYKE ROAD A106
    WARREN MI

Invoice also shows a line for "Company Used Vehicle Disc" of $3418.50" and another line of "This motor vehicle is subject to a security interest held by GMAC". It also has a dealer name at the bottom
    Joe Lunghamer Chevrolet, Inc.
    PO Box 430090
    Pontiac, MI 48343-0090

Article in this months Corvette Mag says similar codes were on cars sent to Brickyard 400 inaugural event in 1994, but those cars were built in June 94, and mine was built Oct '93 per the build sheet, though is same Torch Red in and out as BY400 cars.

Anyone have any ideas why the car was apparently delivered to Warren Tech Center? Or what significance these codes, names, destinations have/mean?

    Appreciate any thoughts/ideas.

I'd say it's pretty simple. This was a car that was originally delivered to the Chevrolet Central Office or Engineering Center. It was driven by some staff member or members, possibly for engineering evaluation but, more likely, just for transportation. Then, it was consigned to the Chevrolet dealer shown for retail sale.

If you want, drop me the specs on your 94. Your car was probably used for an event or show. The discount on the invoice indicates it had some miles on it when the dealer got it. Is your car red on red with auto, black top and ride control ??

PM me the VIN for your car. Maybe I can help determine what it was used for. I had four or five of the Brickyard cars after the race. They were pretty cool.

My fiancee's 96 convertible went to Warren. Not sure what occurred there. From Warren, it went to Iowa and it's first owner of record. The car was in Colorado when she bought it.

Mel, you have a rare Brickyard 400 Pace Car Corvette for sure. Only 25 built in June of 1994. Check out the article on page 60 in Corvette Magazine Dec 2011. Just got my issue the other day and it answer all your questions about the Brickyard Corvette Pace Cars. Save the Wave.>George

            George:

I don't believe Mel's car is a Brickyard festival / parade car. I PMed him some history on his car. I bought several of those after the race. There were 13 red ones and 12 black ones. They were all convertibles. Mel's car is a coupe and not built in the right timeline. I was at the race and saw them all. Most of the Brickyard cars were distributed throughout the Indianapolis area. I got a few of them due to my high volume of sales even though I'm in Ohio. If you look through some of the old restorers, you will see an article on these written by Tom Commons. I assisted him with some info and pictures on these cars.

Re: Odd destination for delivery of my 94

In my opinopn it was most likely a GM PEP (product evaluation program) car driven by a GM exec at the Tech Center and then sold to an employee at a price that depended on the mileage. PEP4 was the best price on cars with more than 7500 miles....

CPC is the former Chevrolet Pontiac Canada Group of GM and the security interest by GMAC is the floorplan of the dealer at which the car was delivered.

The fact that it went to Qual Effic makes one think the car had a unique duty at some point. Perhaps a show or special event of some sort. Just not the Brickyard on this one.

I appreciate all the inputs guys. As Tom noted my coupe was built in Oct 93 so probably not one of the Brickyard cars, though not totally impossible. More likely a part of a GM promotion event, or even an exec or PEP cars as described above. I'll probably never know for sure unless others have an idea where/how to check further. Regardless, its fun to consider the possibilities.

Totally impossible since the Brickyard cars were convertibles. Not coupes.

Tom, I thought he owned a convertible. My mistake. His Corvette must have been PEP.
