    67 L88 Carburetta

According to the Chevrolet By The Number publication, I have a Holley carburetta that has the correct list number (3418-1) and GM code (3886091AN ) for a 67 L88 Corvette

However the 3 didgit date code reads 975, this relates to July 1969
I have no reason to believe that the carburetta is a fake and is not a reproduction.
    Therefore I have 2 questions
    1. Is there any alternate explaination for the code and date conflict?
    2. What is the meaning of the AN at the end of the GM part code?

I can post a photo if anybody has further interest, but any advise backed with some published reference would be greatly appreciated.

What you have is a SERVICE carburetor, not an original carb actually installed on a 1967 L-88. The GM #3886091 carburetor was available in SERVICE until October1, 1973, and I'm sure a LOT more were sold over-the-counter than ever originally installed on a car. I see no conflict in the date code; you have a SERVICE carb manufactured in July, 1969.

The "AN" represents a broadcast code. This is a code which allows assembly line workers to quickly and easily identify the right part for any particular application.

Hello Joe, thanks for the response and the answers. This carburetta is complete and unrestored. I am considering selling it. Therefore I am interested in understanding its possible value

Can you help me with this?

      Regards

I cannot. I usually don't get into placing a value on parts.

In this case, as I mentioned previously, I expect that a lot more of these carbs were sold over-the-counter than ever installed on cars. So, I have a suspicion that they are not rare.

The real value would be to someone having a 1967 L-88 and needing a carburetor. However, given the number originally manufactured (20), the number of those still in existence and requiring a carburetor, especially an incorrectly dated example, I would say the market willing to pay a premium price would be quite limited indeed.

Joe- given that its a service date, two years later... value plummets IMO.
