    OT. Chevelle Exhaust Manifolds

Posting this for a friend who is a member but not "Internet Savvy".

He is looking for LS6 exhaust manifolds for his 1970 454 Chevelle SS.

He says they are not the same as the LS5. Any leads about where to search would be appreciated. The car has headers on it now and one is rotted and he wants to go back to original manifolds.

    Thanks

Give Rick Nelson a try. Best guy I know of. I think this is his current address. If not, let me know and I will get you his number. Tell him I told you to look him up.

    ricknelson427@hotmail.com

Here is his website. Not a better guy to deal with in my opinion.

      Rich,

Have you checked out the site linked below? Not quite the same as here. It is owned by a for-profit company for example, and paying a "membership fee" gets you access to a greater number of member advertisements and loses some of the paid advertising one sees.

Check it out a bit before you jump in. Some of the guys over there will want data about your friend's car -- but then we do the same with some Corvettes over here.

According to "1970-75 Chevrolet by the Numbers" the 1970 Chevelle 454 (360, 450 HP) used a 3909879 LH and 3916178 RH exhaust manifold.

Both 1970 LS-5 and LS-6 Chevelles used the same basic exhaust manifolds. However, the LS-6 manifold was tapped for AIR fittings and the LS-5 was not. So, that's how they were different.

All 1965-72 Chevelles, Camaros, passenger cars, and Chevy II with big block engines used log type exhaust manifolds with TWO exceptions. The exceptions? 1965 full size passenger car with L-78 and 1966 full size passenger car with L-72. These applications used the Corvette "header" type cast iron manifolds.
