    Argent Silver Paint

Alright, who has the closest correct argent silver wheel paint for my 1970 ralley wheels? Looked at and used different ones, can't find the right one. Needs to have that greenish hue.
    Thanks.

    Deane,
I have not experienced a good rattle can version, maybe others have. There are some good threads to search on this one, at one point someone posted a mixing guide to get the argent "look".

here are a couple pics of rattle can vs custom mix (lighting is not the best in either pic so colors may be a little off but you get the idea)

Not all Argent is created equal. 1970 has some green to it. I doubt rattle can will do the trick. You will need someone to put forth a formula and then get some mixed and spray baby spray.

            Re: Argent Silver Paint

I'd been looking into this myself. There are many threads, especially in the Corvette Forum, that talk about Eastwood (most don't like it). They talk about OEM Paint (the company), and even about how they don't see any green hue at all. I don't know...I have original rims, based on date codes, and for all I know they've not been repainted. I'm not the best to ask about colors, though.

In any case, this thread was most interesting, I thought:

            http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-t...eel-paint.html

In it, scroll down and you'll find this recipe:

            Argent Silver, DAR#8568
            mIxing Formula for 1 qt
            DMR 433, 416 units
            DMR 435, 420 units
            DXR 495, 20 units
            DMR 499, 160 units

I've not tried it, but I thought I might, just to see what it looked like.

Something else people claim is the back of the rims wasn't black, but rather gray. Any truth to that claim? Perhaps it doesn't matter if the judges are looking for black, but originality is best if we can verify what that might be. The back of my rims is rusted, so I can't quite tell one way or the other.

Thanks to everyone. Good info as usual. It's what I expected, trial and error. In my case alot more of the error part.
              Thanks again all.

I used this formula. Had Tower Paint in Oshkosh, WI mix it and put it in an aerosol can. Painted my spare wheel, no deduction at Texas Regional on my 69 coupe.

Not sure where I found these. They've been floating around for a while. All are supposed to be acrylic lacquer.

                    Re: Argent Silver Paint

Posting my media blasted and repainted rally wheels for my early 1970 Roadster. The original spare, a little dusty and dulled from age is pictured also. The shop ran several test spray's before it was able to duplicate the color of the spare tire. Picture was taken in full sunlight.
