    Choke tube to exhaust manifold????

Can someone tell me where to get the small sleeve or whatever it is called that fits the choke tube to the hole in top of the exhaust manifold?

I have a replacement right side exhaust for my 60. The old one was to far gone. The choke tube is broken off in the old one, but I can see what looks like a sleeve in the hole fitting the tube to the hole. I measure the choke tube O.D. at .248 and the I.D. of the hole in the exhaust manifold at .345.

    Thanks,

    Don.

CC and Paragon show them in their catalogs.

      Donald,

When you remove the old tube, cut a section of the tube out of the middle inside the exhaust manifold. Drill up in bit sizes to thin the wall of the old tube and then you should be able to tap the tube inward without doing any damage to the manifold.

If the new tube only seals tight on one end, use some J&B weld to seal the other side from inside the manifold. I think the repro stainless tubes are only interference fit on one end.

        Don,

I have a NOS tube in a GM wrapper that I remember seeing recently while I was looking for other parts. I will sell the NOS tube for the same price as a repro if you are interested as I have no use for it.

I guess I was not clear. I have a repro tube and a replacement right side manifold already.

The tube in the old manifold is smaller than the hole in the top of the manifold, the repro tube has the same loose fit to the manifold. There seems to be some sort of separate sleeve around the tube and in the hole that gives the tube a tight fit to the hole.

The sleeve is what I am looking for.

          Thanks,

          Don

            Tim,

I'm not talking about the choke tube inside the manifold. The old one is in the mainfold and seems to be in good shape. I'm refering to where the top tube that runs from the choke coil cover to the manifold. Where it goes into the manifold it is much smaller than the hole in the manifold. The old manifold seems to have a sleeve in the hole that fits the tube tight.

            Thanks,

I've looked in both catalogs and search both web sites and can not find the sleeve/shim that holds the upper choke tube into the exhaust manifold.

              What am I missint

                Don,

The tube from the choke should slip inside the tube in the manifold. If it doesn't, ream the tube in the manifold out so the tube from the choke will slip into it.

Re: Choke tube to exhaust manifold????

I'm a little slow I guess. I finally figured it out after rereading all the comments. The tube inside the manifold is supposed to have a flared top that the upper tube goes into. The top of the inner tube on the replacement manifold that I picked up at Carlisle must be broken off down in the manifold.

                  So I'll order a replacement.

                  Thanks,

                    Dave,

Is the NOS tube the upper tube (from choke to manifold), or the tube inside the manifold? Looks like I need that one.
