Re: 68 A/C Vent Ball Change
Hi Cathy,
I had the same problem (my car is not an A/C car but if you are talking about Astro Ventilation vent balls they are the same) and at first I thought I would have to take the dash apart to change my old ones with new ones but with more examination, I just grabbed the old vent ball securely and pulled them out. I pushed the new ones in the hole and they have worked perfectly. Nothing was damaged in doing it this way. I hope this works for you.

I've been told they will come out the front, but have not tried it. I installed my two from the rear because I was too chicken to tug on them.

Jeepers. Flipping on to your back in the footwell, wiggling up under the dash, trying to aim the flashlight at something resembling a target while groping around trying to remember where you laid the screwdriver is one of Life's greatest pleasures.

I find it almost worth the effort to remove the seat when going under the dash. It's a good idea to take them out and clean and lube under there anyway. After having the slide bracket (thats welded to the seat) break and not being able to get the seat out, did after extream effort, I like to keep an eye on whats going on under my butt.
