    '69 under-the-hood order of assembly?

Regarding the firewall accessories; vacuum hoses, vacuum relay, wiper door actuator, wiring, wiper motor etc, which of these was installed first/second and so on?
Also, is there a publication that documents the building order of the entire car that comes with good recommendation and plenty of photos?

John Hinckley gave an excellent presentation on the Assembly Sequence at the National this year. You can download it from the Michigan NCRS site. Hope that helps

Got it. HolySchmoly! Thanks David, that looks very interesting. But it doesn't cover 1969's!!

        Dan,

Perhaps John H. will chime in, but I believe the basic process was pretty much the same for all the St. Louis years.

Another interesting book is: "BIRTHPLACE OF LEGENDS, The Story of Corvette Production at the St. Louis Assembly Plant - 1953-1981 by Peter J. Licastro, 1993, ISBN 0-9630555-8-5. Many photos and description of the assembly process.

Also, some photos of Corvette assembly 1980 (1981 production) on the Digital Corvettes site may be useful:

            Russ -

Thanks - I thought I'd better put that 27-page .pdf together with the complete, detailed assembly sequence all in one place before the information was "lost"; the other three PowerPoint files illustrate it in less detail, but with lots of photos. The PowerPoint files are what I presented at the National Convention in Novi.

Awaiting delivery of the "Birthplace of Legends". Meanwhile somebody must know the answer to my question?
What was the order of assembly of the components that adorn the firewall of a '69?
Was the wiper motor installed before or after the vacuum hoses and control valves?
When was the engine/starter wire harness installed, before or after vacuum lines/valves, before or after wiper motor?

                Hi Dan,

Per the '68/'69 TJM the wiring harness was the first component installed in the clips mounted on the inner fender, it should be the lowest in the clips. The vacuum hoses were bundled together using a black cloth like tape as ties and not a wrap. If transistor ignition is present, a third harness will run from the area of the distributor and coil along the driver's fender.

                I hope this helps.

                    Mark,

On the Michigan home page, click the "Home+" button on the top left, then "Downloads" in the submenu. That should work.
