    Antifreeze Recommendation

I Am Going To Be Draining My Cooling System On My 65 327, Any Recomendations On What Brand Or Type Of Coolant I Should Refill It With?
    Thanks,
    Karl

I use the "green stuff" and mix it 50/50 with distilled water. In Mass I buy the store brand at Car Quest. Comes in a black container. Not sure in your area.

Zerex G-05 is the only choice for an old car. It is an HOAT anti-freeze that greatly reduces any deposit buildups.

It is crystal clear, like water, and remember to only use distilled water in the radiator as well.

During Top Flight Judging would there be any deductions if its not green?
I looked the my judging manual and didn't see anything.

I've had my cars judged many times for flight, they never take the radiator cap off and look at anything inside or any fluids for that matter.

Agree with the recommendation, but Zerex G-05 is a pale yellow or gold color...not water white. It is also available in other colors from various other sources. As an example, MOPAR labeled G-05 is pink.

Entire cooling system should be drained and flushed before switching from "green" to G-05. Probably not mandatory, but highly recommended (by me and many others).

Distilled water is also recommended for mixing, unless you buy the pre-mixed 50/50 version.

Well, the jugs I have are clear, no color at all, unless you look through a thick stream, very, very pale yellow. On the ground, clear as water.

Premixed 50/50 version?? The purified water used in this mix will dilute down the color significantly.

See page 2 of this Zerex G-05 specification under "color": http://www.valvoline.com/pdf/zerexg05.pdf. This spec sheet also has a lot of other good info on G-05.

Of course, yes, nobody uses full strength anti-freeze for your coolant.

I just installed a Dewitt date coded radiator in my '65 L79 and used Zerex G05 mixing 50/50 with distilled water. No problems in 110 weather here in Arizona. Grant
