Took about a 40 minute ride this morning. When I got back home, I got out to deactivate the house alarm and open the garage door with the car running. It stalled after being there for a minute or so. It would crank fine but didn't start. I waited about 15 minutes until it cooled a bit, still didn't start. Finally then I got out the starting fluid, gave it a shot and it started right up. After having the carbs redone about 3 years ago, I always seem to have a vapor lock problem. I would love to find someone in the NJ area the could make a house call and set this thing up correct once and for all. All the obvious suspects have been checked, such as the thermosat, fan clutch, fuel lines too close to the block etc. I also use 100% AVGAS. Any suggestions?

Jack
I know a great carb guy in Dublin, PA. That's about 30 minutes west of Doylestown. He's there evenings and weekends. He rebuilt my Trip's on my 67 427/400 (and others)

Re: 427/400 stalled out.
Jack,
When the car restarted did it seem flooded?
Try the replicate the problem and remove the air cleaner to see if the accelerator pump will shoot fuel. Might not have anything to do with vapor lock but a carburetor leaking gas internally and flooding the engine at hot idle.- Top
