I May Have A Chance To Trade My C3 For A C6. It's An Even Trade. ( No Money Exchanged) C3 Is In The Us. C6 Is In Canada . What Do I Need To Do ? Will I Need To Pay Duty On The C6 Coming Into The Us? Will The C3 Buyer Have To Pay Duties Going Into Canada.? Any Help Would Be Great. Thanks!!

No duties will be payable since the cards are exempt under NAFTA, but sales tax(es) may be payable by both of the parties. Moving the cars across the border should be painless as long as the process is followed.

Here's what your buyer up here needs to do:

And here's waht you need to do:

Three problems I encountered importing a C1 into the United States in 2004.

      1) C1's original Wonderbar radio had been replaced with a CD player however, origional Wonderbar radio was in the trunk. Customs authorties confiscated the Wonderbar since it was not installed in the car. Months later it was returned to the previous owner who later sent it by FedEx to me.

      2) Most transport carriers wanted the Vette shipped across the border into the United States before they would take possession. According to the transporters that I spoke with at the time, it took a very long time to cross the border and deal with customs.

      3) My car came from just outside of Vancouver BC. According to the owner, if I did not get it out before mid Oct. I would have to postpone delivery until next Spring, after the snow melted.

Since this was seven years ago things may have changed regarding customs and if you are a proponent of Global Warming the snow may no longer be an issue either.

Paul, Becareful you might not have any type of factory GM warranty on whatever year C6 you are getting from Canada. Get vin # number and check with your local GM Dealer. (unless its an C6 with expired warranty, then who cares). Good Luck with your deal. Save the Wave.
