John Kennedy - rest in peace my friend

It seems as if we have lost more in the last few months than any of us care to talk about, it may be a sign of the greying of our society, which is a shame.

9/7/2011 we lost another one. John Kennedy passed away after a long battle. The talent, principles, friendship and compassion this individual shared with the membership for the hobby will not be easily replaced.

There will be no more Kennedy tops, interiors, tech sessions or laughs, fortunately he is in a better place.

John's company, "House of Customs" was notable nationwide for providing interior upholstery and softtop restoration for Corvettes of all model years. He served as the NCRS National Tech Advisor for interior upholstery and softtops from 1998 to present. He would have turned 80 years old this September 29th.

Rest in peace my friend we will miss you.

Absolutely the best of the best. Consider yourself fortunate if you knew him or ever had the pleasure of just speaking with him.

There's an old partial song lyric that fittingly describes John's career
            and his interaction with people...

            "Nobody does it better..."

We are all better off just by knowing him.

As Roy said we have lost a lot this last few months and we have lost another of the good guys. Lorens refrence to the song hit the nail on the head "Nobody does it better" John was the best at what he did and he was always willing to share his knowledge, Great Guy, we will miss him!

My exposure to John was brief but long enough to know the man was top shelf. I had the pleasure to OJ 63/4 interiors with him at a Regional meet in Breckenridge Co a few years back. That was my first OJ gig and I will never forget the knowledge he shared and his bedside manner with the owners of the cars. One of which was Charlie Cadenhead's red over white 64 convertible. Most know that Charlie is now another of the good one's to pass on.

I connected with John again at the National meet in Park City UT the following year. I doubt if he remembered me, but he was gracious enough to answer my questions and chat awhile.

Sorry to hear the news and my prayers go out for the family left behind.

John Kennedy. Was a wonderful ,pleasant, caring guy. Always a pleasure to talk to, and a true asset to the hobby. I was fortunate to have met him on a road trip in the early 80s, as well as enjoying many conversations over the years with him.

I feel lucky to have been friends with John. I only have one more of his tops to install. I'll be thinking of him with a smile as I install it.

                            RIP, John.
