'67 horn dates

Hello everyone,

I was checking the horns on my'67 tonight and I can confirn that at least one of them is a replacement (I assume from some front end damage my car had in it's early days) and that got me wondering about the dates.

Since I don't have the original horns to go by, what was typical time difference between horn dates and your cars birthday? Was is weeks or months with horns?

On my 67 the horn dates are very close to the build date for the car.
My car was built 23 June 67 and my horn dates are R/H 7F2 L/H 7F3
That's the 2ed and 3ed week of June 67.
The NCRS gives you 6 months on dates but since all cars got horns I would think that in most cases the dates would be only weeks from build date. R/H horns on A/C cars may be the exception.

My April 10 built 65 horns are left-5A2, right-5A4.

My car was built March 6th, Horns are 7B4 February 4th week ?

My April 10 built '67 has horn dates of 7C1 & 7C2 (March 67 week 1 & 2)

My April 18th, 1967 build date car has original low note horn dated 7C2. High note was a service replacement.

Thank you everyone for your input. I got the other horn off tonight and at least one of my horns is original. It's the 487 and it's dated 6K3. My '67 is a December 12th car.

My early production 67 L-79(Sept 6, 1966) has the following horn dates:
Left Horn 487---6F5 (5th week June 1966)
Right Horn 488---6E2( 2nd week May 1966)
To my knowledge the horns are original to the car.
