A pic of the area would aid us in making a recommendation.- Top

Re: 1965 Big Block Hood
The hood hinge mount is a flat plate, not individual nuts. You should look at it and make sure someone ( spelled bubba) hasnt made changes in that. If not the easiest thing would be something like a helicoil fix. If necessary the side can be slotted and a new plate installed. Shouldnt affect the paint other than black out.- Top

I agree with Wayne. This problem can be repaired relatively easily using a thread repair like a Heli-Coil. However, for this particular repair I like the Thread-Sert type of thread repair. These are a lot less common than Heli-Coils and usually can't be found in a hardware store, but they are available from sources Like McMaster-Carr.

Re: 1965 Big Block Hood
Brenton,
Joe has the right Idea.
I use riv-nuts on stripped plates or frame applications.
They are great as they grip both sides and get tighter when you tighten a bolt on them.
They do take a special tool and I would be glad to send it to you, I think I also have the correct thickness riv nuts at the shop.
The riv nuts are placed in the hole and the back side is pulled to the plate with the special tool.
