The Time Has Come-New N11 Exhaust for '67

    Hello,

The time as come...I am going to buy a new N11 system for my '67 (saw quite a few NOS GM versions at Carlisle, but too expensive for me, and mosltly rusty).

I have done multiple searches on this in both the archives and the current Tech. Discussion, but still don't really have a clear consensus.

    Which is the best?
By "best" I mean (my definition):
    1. Closest to originally installed on the factory assembly line and
    2. Minimum judging point deductions

What I gather so far is that the Corvette Central and Gardners's versions are both consisdered good.

But which is "best" by my definition?
Or if not one of these two brands, what is better?

Thanks in advance, As well as apologies in advance if everyone is tired of hearing about this.

I tell you which company not to purchase from...Allen's Exhaust. Poor fitment, less than desireable customer service.

FWIW, I can't speak to the C2 application, but through first hand experience, I will say that my C3 fitment and customer service from Gardner's Exhaust was perfect. I lost some points in judging, but I think unless you have an all original system, in perfect condition you'll lose points anyway.

I replaced mine a few months ago with a set from Zip Corvette, they are carbon steel (no deducts for that) and have what they call "original sound". They sell others that don't have that. The driver side went on perfectly, but the passenger side seems to stick down about an inch lower than the ones I took off up on the front of the pipe as it comes into the cover. It appears they did not allow for the heat riser on my L71, so it is a little off, but otherwise fits fine. Not sure if that would be a deduct, but it doesn't bother me much, it might some others. Oops, N11, I was thinking N14, never mind...

I have to disagree, they have been good fitting and good to deal with. I installed many many of their systems without any major issues to speak of. A bit of tweaking is expected to get them perfect.

A chapter member had issue with side pipes from them and they took them back and made refund.

I sold and installed Allen's exhaust systems for years. Never installed one that did not need tweaking, some minor, some major.

No problems Gene, glad your experience was good, mine wasn't. There's always tweaking of the system, however mine had header pipes that didn't meet evenly at the cross member and miss-bent. Spoke w/Mike(?) however it was anyones fault but theirs. "We've been making this systems for years". Never was it suggested they would take system back.

Use CC or Gardners.....you'll fair better in the long run.

I bought the Corvette Central welded two-piece system for my early 63 with seat wells and they fit and installed perfectly. There was virtually no tweaking and they still look look new after being on the road for a while. I think mine is the aluminized system so they don't rust but get a deduction.
I also think there's some kind of shipping discount now for the whole system. Came with all new hardware too. Very very easy. And it sounds great Not too noisy on the freeway.

I would go with Gardner Exhaust 845-758-8003

I just ordered a N11 system for my BB 67 from Gardner. The only issue is the mufflers are not welded to the pipes. You'll have to weld them after fitting.

I just purchased the Corvette Central set after watching the youtube video's of the sound and research work done by Waldron's Antique Exhaust, who makes the mufflers for Corvette Central. The mufflers come weld to the pipes which maybe a blessing or a curse for line up!

Original systems were welded from the factory. I'm surprised to hear after the nice reviews that Gardners exhaust systems are not welded.

I am about ready to order a new exhaust system and I have a question for those of you who installed the pre-welded systems. Can they be installed with the car on jackstands or will the car need to be significantly?

                              Thanks.
