    Want a correct gasket? Get one from Dr. Rebuild. Just about any aftermarket gasket you're going to find is going to be "compromised" in some way from the original gasket. They may be very functional, but if the "revised configuration" is not to your liking for any reason, at all, then get a good reproduction.

    The original gasket was GM #3798352. It was discontinued without supercession in December, 1981.

    By the way, the Fel-Pro 9525 is the Fel-Pro gasket which replaces the GM #3798352 but just how close it is to the original I do not know.

      I second the endorsement for the L-76 Gasket from DR. Rebuild. I bought a number from him and they are exactly correct. I even use them with success along with a phenolic spacer from an L-75 which has a heat chamber in it, but is sealed off very well in a sandwich of L-76 gaskets to give me the 35 to 40* temperature drop from stock configiuration (1 gasket). None of the kit gaskets work right.

        Guys thanks for the lead on the gasket ordered mine today from Doc., and Stu if the single gasket is not enough, I will try the spacer trick.

          Ed;

          Just to make it clear; in order to achieve the temperature drop that I noted at the carb, you will probably have to go the whole nine yards as I did, i.e. an electric choke to eliminate the hot air bleed into the choke housing (and the steel tube connection), and a fuel hose from the filter to the carb (to make the extra height and eliminate the steel tube connection). You may be able to make the connection with the stock fuel tube, but you will have to reposition your filter by bending the bracket up some and turning the filter. I chose not to do that as I wanted to isolate the carb from any heat conducted via the steel tube connections, as well as be able to return to stock easily for show.
