Parts buying advice...

I wanted to know if anyone has bought anything from a guy in San Rafael, CA named Wade McConnell. He responded to a parts wanted add on the CF. His user name of CF is Chim_Chim. I see he his not a member of NCRS.

Want to know if anyone has had any experience with him before I send him some money,

If you used the Members List button above to conclude he is not a member of NCRS you may have missed over half the membership. That Members list refers to those who are "members" of this site, and is not the complete NCRS membership list.

Of course you should realize that even if he is a member of NCRS, sadly, that is no assurance of his integrity.

I've never heard of him. However, there are LOTS of guys in the Corvette parts world I've never heard of. I would think that his eBay feedback record would be your best indication of his business practices.

Joe, I found this guy through a "want to buy" add on the Corvette Forum. So I do not have any feedback like on Ebay to go on...I guess I could ask him if he sells on Ebay so I could look at his feedback.

Terry, how does one search the entire NCRS membership vs just the Discussion Board?

I have bought parts from a number of folks on the CF and so far not got burned. It is kind of scarey sending a check to someone you don't know and trusting them to follow through.

I've actually gotten more junk parts buying off Ebay than trusting they sellers on the CF.

The membership database is restricted to a very few people due to privacy issues.

I live about 45 minutes north of San Rafael. If you are are buying a big dollar part I could go check it out for you. I'm down that way on business quite often.

Jeff, thanks for the offer, but I went ahead and sent the money. It was not a high dollar part, but still do not want to lose the money.

Personally, I have yet to deal with anyone who has not delivered on the parts. Have been disappointed just a few times in the part. But never stiffed!

What got me thinking was a friend of my recently got stiffed on a set of heads.

I have also had good experiences for the most part. Seems like most people who play with cars are honest people, and it they are not the words gets around fast.
