    Voltage Regulator Charge?

    Hi all,

I took off my 30 amp 001 voltage regulator that seemed to have a short and put on a '57 35 amp 002 one that I had. I want to be sure it's charging the battery properly.

When I use my battery tender/minder, the voltage on the battery goes to abotu 13.6. After driving at night with the lights on, the battery was at 12.2. But I'm wondering if it would have gone lower if I had driven longer with the lights on or, especially, the brights on.

If the voltage regulator is functioning properly, what is the lowest voltage I should expect on the battery?

    Thanks,

    Bob

    Bob -

A fully-charged battery should show 12.4-12.6 volts (engine off, no loads). With the engine running at 1500 rpm (generator cars), a voltmeter across the battery terminals should show 13.5-14.2 volts if the system is charging.
