Hood Latch Spring finish

Could someone better describe the finish on the cone shaped hood lock bolt spring. The Judging guide specifies "dark natural finish" . Also the return spring finish on the left side firewall mounted latch ? Thanks, AL

I believe these release springs to be a gray phosphate finish and not a "dark natural" finish. In any event, whether or not they are actually gray phosphate, that is how they APPEAR.

The pull-back spring on the upper hood latch plate is also a phosphate finish but much darker---more like what is described as a black phosphate finish. (note: no phosphate finish is actually black; they are all some degree of gray from a light gray to a VERY dark gray)
